Brymbo Heritage Project

Brymbo steel works was a former, large steelworks operating between 1796 and 1990, situated in the village of Brymbo near Wrexham, Wales. The site is recognised as an important industrial heritage area and contains SAMs, Listed Buildings and a SSSI. It is home to early 18th century iron works, coal mines, former steelworks and a fossilised forest.

The trust’s aim is to convert the site into a community driven visitor attraction with existing buildings being utilised to create interpretation areas, spaces for venue hire, a café gift shop and business units.

As part of the design team, BRP are responsible for both the civil and structural engineering services for the restoration of the existing buildings, new build extensions and drainage for the proposed developments and car parking.

Given the site's historical significance, close collaboration with archaeological and conservation Architects was imperative. Their expertise ensured that any proposed development within the scheduled monuments area adhered strictly to CADW guidelines, preserving the integrity of the site's heritage.

MKM Building Supplies

MKM Building Supplies are the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant with over 100 branches across the UK.

BRP was assigned the task of designing a new external storage facility and making modifications to the current building. This involved adjustments to the first-floor mezzanine, the establishment of a new front glazed entrance, and the creation of new door openings.

Utilising design software enabled us to model the existing and new storage warehouse to give a 3D visual of the intended designs.

Assisting both client and architect, the scheme has enabled the existing space to be re-utilised to the branch’s full potential.

Colliers Park, Gresford – Redevelopment

Colliers Park
Colliers Park

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) Colliers Park is a £5M state of the art National Football Centre. Partnered by the FAW and Wrexham University, it is a centre of excellence for local and national football.

As part of the design team BRP were responsible for the civil and structural engineering services for the refurbishment of the existing building and new build extension together with external works and drainage to provide international class changing facilities, fitness suite, player zone and office and conference facilities.

Due to ground conditions at the site, specialist foundations had to be designed along with new drainage and a sewage treatment plant. Close collaboration between the design team and all parties involved ensured that the project completed within the contract programme period and met the needs and expectations of the client.
